The “Compassionation: Imagining a More Compassionate World" webste has been living in the hearts and minds of Stephanie Jorian and Susan Atherton Reed for some time.

The site came about because we realized:


      – that we can affect our world by doing the right thing as individuals.


      – that there are profitable industries that take shortcuts and often put profit over health, common sense, and all too often, basic decency.


      – that we needed to educate ourselves and other interested people on the food industry, the green movement and how these function in the political arena.

Most importantly, we felt an urgency to act on what we could do as individuals to help the e compasssionate side of humanity move along, even if it’s just a little bit faster. We intend for this site to be an expression of life in these modern times of gross automation and quick fixes. There is no doubt that our lifestyle and modern conveniences have benefitted us. There is also no doubt that we have lost an essential part of our lives because of this automation…that is, interaction with others and concern for their well-being and that of our fellow creatures. In the rush we don’t have time to question anything.


 

We intend to focus on just a few of what we consider, urgent issues:

- The mistreatment of animals in “factory farming”

- The unawareness of many of what they are eating, and how it arrived to be consumed

- How we as individuals can affect various outcomes by being aware, open, and by making informed choices

This site is not about religion. We respect the right for everyone to have their say, and with that said, we respect every person for who they are.

We sincerely believe that people want to do the right thing. If they are unaware, they forfeit their choice.
